Health Visitor Pre-school Immunisation Clinic

This clinic is held on a Wednesday afternoon at The Riverside Practice. Child Health Surveillance sends out appointments in the post to the family.

 

Midwife run Antenatal Clinic – 0131 536 8147 (Edenhall)

This clinic is held on a Tuesday morning at The Riverside Practice from 9.00 am – 12.30 pm (by appointment). Apointments are made by contacting the midwife at the Edenhall number listed above.

 

ECLIPSE Counselling

The counselling service is run by Prisca Kemp.  The service has been available at the The Riverside Practice since 2004 and is confidential. To arrange counselling you can self-refer or ask your GP for a referral. ECLIPSE packs, and a leaflet explaining the service, are available from reception or any GP at Riverside.

You will need to fill in two forms and return them to the practice, and you will then go on a waiting list. Waiting times are up to 6 weeks. The first appointment is sent out in the post, and further appointments are made by Prisca.

 

Travel Immunisations & Travellers Health Advice

A Travel Questionnaire is available at Reception when completed should be returned to the Practice Nurse, who will work out an immunisation schedule for your travel. Please allow at least 5 days for these to be completed.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the Practice Nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

At Riverside, we provide the basic NHS travel services. For additional immunisations or travel health services, you will need to go to a private travel clinic. Non – NHS examinations

The Doctors in the practice undertake many examinations for special purposes e.g elderly drivers, pre-employment, fitness to undertake various activities including sport and travel. These examinations will normally be done outside standard surgery hours.

Special appointments must be made, and a fee will be payable for these services.

If you are registered with The Riverside Practice and stay in Halls or live at an address in the Musselburgh area, and require an URGENT appointment with a Doctor, please telephone the surgery during opening hours on 0131 665 2267.

 

Please register as a patient with the practice NOW,

do not leave finding a Doctor until you are unwell

INFLUENZA SEASON 2011/12

Flu appointments are available daily with our Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistant. You can telephone Reception and book yourself a convenient appointment to have your Flu vaccination.

All those patients who are in one of the categories below are invited to make an appointment to have the Flu vaccination:

All patients aged 65 years and over

All patients who are in the clinical at-risk groups listed below:

• Chronic respiratory disease
• Chronic heart disease
• Chronic kidney disease
• Chronic liver disease
• Chronic neurological disease
• Diabetes
• Immunosuppression
• Pregnant women
