Appointments

Our phone lines – 0131 665 2267 are open from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm for routine appointments.

However you can contact us on 0131 653 4333 from 8.00 am to 8.30 am for EMERGENCIES only.

You cannot book appointments via this number

• We operate a pre-bookable appointment system.
• The Practice does not offer a walk-in surgery.
• Appointments can be made up to 4 weeks in advance.
• It is best to make an appointment as far in advance as possible, particularly if you have a preferred choice of day, time or GP, but please ensure that you make a note of this in your diary or calendar, so that you do not forget that you have made an appointment.

Please note that the highest demand for appointments are early morning and late afternoon, and whilst we make every effort to accommodate your request, be prepared to compromise.

Telephone Consultation

Should you have a problem you feel will not wait for the next routine appointment, and you feel that you need to be seen that day, our Duty Doctor  may be able to help you via a telephone call. 

Please give as much information as possible to our Receptionist, who will type your request into a task for the Duty Doctor to return your call. We must have an up-to-date telephone number for you and in particular, the phone number or mobile number that you are calling from.

The Duty Doctor may be able to deal with your problem on the telephone without any need for further contact.

The Duty Doctor can also allocate you a fast track appointment, if the doctor thinks this is necessary.

Home Visits

Home visiting is at the discretion of the Doctor. The Doctor will decide if your symptoms require a home visit or whether attendance at the surgery is more appropriate.

Home visits should be for medical reasons, not simply as a matter of convenience.

In the time taken to make one house visit the doctor can see many more patients at the surgery. Please request a visit only if it is absolutely essential.

Requests for home visits should be made as early in the day as possible i.e. before 10.30 am.

GP Registrars

This practice is a training practice and includes GP Registrars. GP Registrars are fully qualified Doctors, with considerable hospital and medical experience, who work within the practice for a 6-month or a 1-year period while training to become a general practitioner.

Teaching/Training

As a medical training practice, we train post-graduate Doctors with a hospital background, and Student Nurses. We hope that our patients will agree to our Student Nurses occasionally observing during patient consultation, to progress development of their consultation skills.

However, you will be informed of their presence in advance, and if you do not want a trainee to be present at your consultation, your wishes will be respected. This will not affect your treatment in any way.
