SAME DAY ACCESS
We are now working in collaboration with NHS 24, to help patients access same day appointments or advice. When phoning the practice for an appointment, the medical call handler will take your details and a brief description of your problem and pass your request onto NHS24, who can safely triage your request and provide you with the most appropriate method of care. Importantly, those who require to see a GP will still do so, but for some, their needs may be best met by seeing another health professional. Patients with minor ailments or medicine queries could be directed to their community pharmacist. And where appropriate, others may be signposted to self-help information such as that on NHS inform.
Access to this service remains through the practice, please do not call 111 within surgery opening hours.

Annual Health Reviews: To book your yearly review with the Practice Nurse, telephone reception on 0131 536 4468. Appointments will typically be available up to 4 weeks in advance. These appointments are available for those who need chronic disease management.
Please note that the highest demand for appointments are early morning and late afternoon, and whilst we make every effort to accommodate your request, please be prepared to compromise. If you are looking for a specific clinician, due to their working hours, some clinicians are less available than others, please be prepared to compromise.
CANCELLATION TELEPHONE LINE – 0131 446 4168
We are trialling a dedicated telephone line, to enable our patients to more easily phone the surgery and cancel their unwanted booked appointments. This line is to be used strictly for cancellation of booked appointments only, and no other service can be obtained using this phone number. We hope that this new line will encourage our patients to phone and cancel their unwanted booked appointments, thus allowing other patients to use them.

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and they will arrange this for you.
Private Medical Examinations, Request for GP Letters & Completion of Forms
If your Doctor has agreed to write a letter for you in connection with your employment, acting as a referee, or for some other specific area, you may be charged for this letter. If you require a Private Medical Examination, a written request needs to be handed into us along with any additional paperwork that is required to be filled out within the appointment. These requests are classed as private work and are completed in the GP’s own time. Once you have handed your written request into us along with any additional paperwork, a member of the administration team will be in contact to inform you of the charge, estimation of completion and or an appointment if this is required. If you require an urgent letter please state this in your request and this will be taken into consideration.
