Today’s primary care landscape is very different to the one our parents might have experienced: GPs are no longer the only port of call.
There are a range of health professionals patients can see, both within GP Practices and via primary care services run by local and regional health boards.
We find it challenging to keep up to date with all the services now available to patients – and imagine that many patients feel the same! We try our best to make our patients aware of the many other services available to them via our website and other materials – often contacting other services means you speak to a specialist sooner, as well as saving a GP appointment.
You can contact many of these services direct – you don’t need to speak to a GP first. The exception to this is some CTACS community nursing services. Please visit the CTACS page on our website to see which of their services you can self-refer for and which need a referral first.
